Harry Hammerstein, the eldest son of Oscar Hammerstein, the operatic impresario, died last night in the Law- rence Hospital, New London, Conn., of diabetes. He had been falling for more than @ year, and it had been known for months that he had not long to live. Mr. Hammerstein was a lieutenant | in the Ninth Regiment, the New York National Guard, and on Satur- day he went to Fisher's Island with other members of the regiment to prepare for its encampment there.
