The in- vestigators are all experts and they are trying to get at the fundamental causes of the beef shortage ang will recommend a course of action for so- lution of the problem. Among the reasons for the cattle shortage, drouth in the Southwest has been a strong factor. Last year when the corn crop did not look good the farm- ers unloaded their cattle. The caused by this condition was increased by a tendency on the part of farmers to hold their cattle this year, with the corn crop prospects so bright.
