RUDE BUETTNBI PUF A VALUAI 1END TO HAVE, To the Kalitor of The Evening World Barnegat, N. J., April 4 1 have no rare dogs of my own, but I have been vastly interested in reading of the rare specimens which have been recently brought to ght through your columns, I have al- Ways taken the greatest interest in many of the specimens of which f have been reading in your columas, and I cannot call to mind now any of them which I am not familiar ‘with. Granite Dipper, a friend of mine, living here, has one of those valuable red pepper pups, and I have Anally overcome his modesty and prevailed upon tim to enter him in the Madi- @on Square Garden Bench Show. The pup, s# his name suggests, is & ‘hunter, and he hunts the red pepper in its wildest state, I did not really know the value, though, of the dog until recently. I went on @ hunting ‘rip with my friend Dipper in the woods beyond Barnegat. We were lost, Dipper just whistled. The pup immediately etarted off and dove into ‘& nest of red peppers. Upon his re- turn, breathless, he was panting, of couree, and at every pant there was @ flash of light. The light he made mulded us out of the darkness and out of the wilderness, I venture to assert that the pup will attract the Greatest attention at the bench show. H. TEE. BAVARIAN BISCUIT HOUND DOES THE FAMILY BAKING. New York, April 4. ‘To the bAitor of The Evening World: May I commend to your attention the Bavarian Biscuit Hound, te- nowned in that far off country as & most useful household pet. This pecullar animal is distinguished from other canines in two remarkable re- spects, One is that it possesses only 4@ single whisker which, however, Protrudes from his upper fp at an extraordinary length and is exceed- ingly rigid as in @ porcupine, The other is an asbestos tail. The busy housewife, having made a datch' Ur Blectits, tarts, ples or other culinary| edtiiies ‘and placed them in the oven to cook, leaves them in charge of this remarkable animal without fear that they will burn, The animal immediately crawis beneath the stove, curls bis tail around the knob of the door and listens. In due time he opens the door, emerges from Deneath the ve and plunges his cingie whisker the biscuits, ples, tarts, &c., or whatever pastry is in the process of baking. If the dough sticks to the whisker the dog. im- mediately closes the door and re- sumes his position beneath the stove.
