By doing odd jobs of washing and cleaning this young mother manages to pay her rent and to provide the meagre fare for the family But the baby needs air and sunlight @nd though both are accessible in the near neighborhood of Tompkins Square, Mrs. Klein is unable to profit by her proximity to green trees and wide healthful spaces. For she has no baby carriage and returning from a hard day's work {s often too tired to carry the child In her arms.
