J., Oct. 9—An un- | relenting father-in-law is arrie Allen Baxter's Nemes The young man, who aroused the indignation of citizens by hfs conduct last summer when he broke subsequently eloping with his daughter Mabel, has been indicted for alleged as- sault with Intent to kill, and Judge ‘Wills, the victim of the alleged assault, fs the prosecuting witness, 5 Young Baxter's career in Mount Holly was sensational in the extreme. He was installed in the fine mansion of Judge Willa in April, having won the ardent friendship of Mrs, Wills and the love of the lovely daughter of the house- hold, Mabel Wain Wills, a graduate of Swarthmore, and a girl of exceptional talents. Weeks and months came and went and Harrie Allen Baxter lingered, to the dislike of the Judge and tho sur- prise of the neighbors. Finally the Judge ordered the young man from the house. He refused to go and Mre. ‘Wills and Mabel sided with him. Next Mrs. -Wills transferred to Baxter, ac- cording to report, a power of attorney authorizing him to manage valuable | stock owned by her in the Mount Holly | Bank and which had been previously | Vested in her husband, who was a dt- rector. ‘Mrs. Willis took her daughter and Baxter to a visit to one of her farms | in another part of the State. The wom- en soon returned and Baxter became an inmate of the mansion a second time.
