Senator Nathan | ginia, member of the Senate committee | on military affairs, today made an in- | spection of Camp Tacoma at American Lake as to its adaptability as a loca- | tion for the establishment of a brigade post. Senator Plles of Washington ac- | companied Senator Scott on his tour | of inspection. 4 Elaborate .preparations are = being made for the grand review of the | troops on Sunday morning at 11 o'clock. | Tomorrow the State. troops will rew ceive pay for all the time they have | been in the fleld. Ahout $20,000 will be distributed among the National Guard | of Washington, Oregon, Idaho Montana. Colonel McBirney kept the Idaho men | busy today taking advantage of every opportunity for battalion and regimen- | tal maneuvering. The Idaho troops are composed of big, strapping young men and make a fine impression. There is not a sick man in the regiment. The Second Washington completed a four- teen-mile march in good order. Colonel Maus, who is to command them in the coming engagement with the brown army, sent over his fine Twentieth | Regiment band last night to serenade | the Second, as a compliment for ap- preciation of the good work done by the troops. General Funston viewed the maneu- vers on horseback. Captain W. G. Haan, chief of staff, expressed satis- faction with the showing made by the troops, both regular and State organi- zatlons. Captain Haan toured the ter- ritory covered by the browns and the | blues. He found both had established effective outposts and were In wire communication with the brigade head- quarters. The signal corps with the blues was in charge of Captain Clarke .of the regular army and Captain Summer of the Second Washington, the corps stringing wires as rapidly as the men marched. and | | FE 5 8 GBS ’:'F T —_—— NATIVE DAUGHTERS OF BEACH CITY ARE TO ENTERTAIN Santa Cruz Parlor Appoints Committee to ‘Help Make Admission Day Celebration a Success.
