These promises have been thade direct to the reconstruction committee by the un- derwriters and are contained in a re- port read to the reconstruction com- mittee by Witllam H. Metson, chair- man of the sub-committee on recon- struction, at yesterday’s' meeting in Century Hall. The report follows: The insurance committee of the re- construction committee met at Hamil- ton Grammar School, San Francisco, on Tuesday, May 8, at 2 p. m. There were present W. H Metson (chair- man), W. F. Herrin, James D. Phelan and A. Ruef, members of the commit- tee, apd the following gentlemen in Adjusting Bureau: George W.Spencer, representing the Aetna Company; Mr. Palache of the Hartford and the Citi- zens’ Insurancé Company of St. Louis, Mr. Lowden of the Norwich Union and Indemnity, and Mr. Irving of the Phoe- nix, London; also E. Myren Wolf, In- surace Commuissioner. Mr. Metson called the meeting to or- der. Mr. Spencer stated: “In response to yoOur request to meet your committee, I will say this for publication: That there has been| no disposition on the part of the insur- | ance companies to delay matters a par-' ticle or to leave any questions of un- certainty in the minds of the people. The first thing for the people of San Francisco to do is to file notices of their claims againat the insurance com- panies. They will be tabulated and each company respectively will take care of them.
