CHICAGO BOARD OF TRADE. Future Graln and Provisions. CHICAGO, Nov. 24. — The wheat market opened weak, initial quotations in May being off w@4e to @k at S8%¢ to S6%c. The de- cline was dus chiefly to weakness in the mar- ket at Liverpool. The failure of the English market to respond to yesterday's advance hers scemed to local traders to indicate that for- elgrers did not entertain serious fears concern- ing the Argentine crop situation, and conse- quently traders here were inclined to dismiss the idea that the Argentine crop had been se- verely damaged by frost. As a result the price of May declined to 861 @86%¢. The fact that rain had jast night fallen over the greater por- tion of the wheat-growing territory of the Tnited States was apparently ignored early in the sessioh. On the decline a eading bull be- came an activé purchaser of May wheat. TH created a general demand, which resuited in a sharp upturn. Reports of large sales of flour at Minneapolis, which came in about this time, were an important factor in the situation. The strength of cash Wheat at that grain center also stimulated the demand for wheat here. For May the highest point of the day was reached at 87%c. The market was steady dur- ing the latter part of the day. Final quota- gfom in May were practicaliy unchanged at Ke. Barly in the day corn was inclined to heavi- ness. Later the market became steady. May closed ¥c lower to 48%e, Renewed liguidation in ths December option was the feature of trading in oats. May closed 1%@Ye off at 81%@81%e. The provision market was firm. At the close May pork was up a thade, lard was off some- what, and ribs were 2i5c higher. The leading futures ranged as follows: on. Articles— Open.. ~High. Low.
