She also took treasure valued at about $200,000. The Hongkong | calls at Manila this trip and for the Philippine port has thirty-two passengers. Among those going to Manila are Drs. R. H. Creel and C. W. Vogel of the United States Marine Hospital Service. They are going on duty in connection with the Philippine quarantine system. Bishop F. Z. Rooker of the Roman Catholic church was another Manila passenger. He is go- ing to Panay. Israel Putnam, publisher of the Manila Cable N'wa. left on the Hongkong. The Hongkong carried seventy-five Chi- nese, of whom seven were deported from Western Texas. No chances were taken with the deported Chinese, the bureau having halt a dozen watchmen guard- ing them from the time they reached the whart until the liner salled.
