REDDING, Sept. 4—Ten jurymen have been secured in the Gallanar murder case and the trial has been postooned until September 10 on account of the sudden fllness of Attorney Sprague, who is con- ducting the case for the defense. Sprague collapsed in court Thursday afternoon and was removed to the Redding FHos- pital. His physician forbids his attend- ance In the court before next week. Sprague had Just recovered rrom o severe attack of typhold fever and the mental strain and work caused him to collapse. ———— Gravel Train Leaves the Rails. REDDING, Sept. 4—A gravel train of twelve cars was wrecked at Middle Creek, two miles north of Redding, this morning. Bix of the cars left the track and piled up In a confused and tangled mass. The south-bound passenger train was behind the gravel train and was delayed at Mid- dle Creek station for eight hcurs while the wrecking crews were straightening out the wreck. The engine of the pas- senger train was pressed Into service and used to pull the rear sectlon of the wrecked train to a siding. ——————— Marin County Landmark Is Burned. PETALUMA, Sept. 4—Fire destroyed the country home of Willlam Jones at the foot of Red Hill, Marin County, to- day. Only the piano and a few articles of furniture were saved.
