HarK! An army is coming, our land to possess, But not in anger or strife; 'Tis the tramp of our heroes from war’s bloody field, Who gave to our nation new life. They come asthe conquering heroes come, With ranks that are shattered and few, But conscicus indeed of life’s noble wotk With the brave and the tried and the true. California cries welcome, ye warriors of old, Whose glory forever shall last, As tenting on fields of brotherly love Ye recount the grand deedsof the past; Then welcome, thrice welcome, this army of peace, To city and hamlet and plain; Cealifornia bids welcome to the best that we have, And repeats it again and again.
