Corrigan as Ravel, but a message from Registrar Wheeling of the Jockey Club gave the Information that the colt was imported from England last year under the name of Rate, and Rate it will have to be in to-morrow’s race. The owners of Claude, Judge Himes and Gregor K, all horses that are regarded as having a big chance, are anxious for rain. They believe a heavy track will beat Savable, and that with the son of Salvator out of the way they can fight it out among themselves. There is only one filly in the race. This is Flocarline. She has many admirers, but tradition is against her. All the best jockeys in the West except one will ride in the Derby. The Reiff brothers were to be rivals, Lester on Sav- able and Johnny on one of the Corrigan entries, presumably Rate. Johnny Reiff, however, dislocated his left clavicle in a race at Harlem to-day. The players who qualify choose two members of a handicap committee, the resident professional of the club being the third member. This committee will arrange the handicap for the match play, the holes at which the handicaps are to be taken to be determined according to the regulation schedule of the club. The tro- phy is to remain in the possession of the club until it shall have been won three times by the same person. The competition for the Council's cup of the San Rafael Golf Club was won last Saturday by R. Gilman Brown. In the semi-final round R. J. Davis was matched against R. G. Brown and E. J.
