T HONOLULU, April 20.—Ewa Plantation Company’s stockholders were good to themselves to-day to the tune of $3,000,000. At an adjourned special meeting, of which three weeks' notice was given, they voted to increase the capital stock from $2,000.- 000 in 20,000 shares of $100 each, par value, to $5,000,000 in 250,000 shares of $20 each, par value. None of the shares of the in- crease are to be sold excepting the fra tional ones of the allotment. They are to be allotted as a stock dividend to the present holders of the company’s shares. Originally the capital was $1,000,000. About two years ago this doubled by means of a stock dividend, when the shares had risen to a market value of $100. It then explained that the increase based upon property in sight. No this occasion of a still greater incre: no explanation is necessary. The commands $400 again, and the Tax sor levies taxes upon a valuation of $5,000,- It was also resolved to-day to create a reserve fund for the company, th ount to be at the discretion of the'directors.
