An Englishman, a Scotchmon and an Irishman, after performing a week's work for a country gentleman, received £4 between them for wages. Net beilng very good at arithmetic, they were at a loss how ty divide the money equally. After a vain attempt at divisicn, the Fnglichman, in despair, handed the money to Scotty, to have a try. Scolly turned the £4 over and over, and scratched his head, but couldn’t arrive at any satisfactory result, so he passed it on to Paddy. Paddy pondered awhile, when sud- denly he exclaimed: “T've got it.” Giving them £1 each, and keeping £2 himself, he said: ‘‘There's £2 for you two, and £2 for me, too (two).” After arriving at so satisfactory a solution (let it be said to Paddy’s bene- fit) they parted, the Englishman and Scotty thinking to themselves “What a da;ar man Paddy was!"—Spare Mo- men 4
