CHICAGO MARKET! do soft-shell, PIG 1 plates CHICAGO, TrL, April 2.—A private concern at Toledo reported an extremely discouraging out- 100K for the Ohio crop, and on this unofficial in- formation wheat was strong on the curb yester- day afternoon and on the regular market to-day. The Obio State report will be issued in a few days, and it Is expected to show & very low average on the condition. The Kansas State report is due about the same time, and the efect of one, itis thought, will offset that of the other. St.Lowss was a very good buyer early to-day, the purchas- ers for ihat account affording covsiderable strength and support to the market, but on the break which occurred Iater the selling orders came from the same direction. The cold westher pre- vailing this morning, light Northwestern receipts, and the bullish tone of the Cincinnati Current were all helps to strength. The very small arrivals in the Northwest weredue to recent storms. Liverpoot cables were quiet. Chicago received 7 cars and inspected out 85,932 bushels. After noon the sentiment changed and prices declined, the predictious of fine weather causing discourage- ment to buyers. Closing Continental cables were higher. Export clearances were moderate at 2K5,- 830 bushels. Mav wheat opened from 6315@6i14¢, declined to 631gc, closing at 6315@636xc asked, Y4c under vesterday. Estimated receipts for tor morrow 10 ¢ars. CORN—Did not move of 1ts own volition, but re- celved its impulse from wheat, business wasat low-water mark. the light trading being entirely for local account. OATS—Did not draw any attention, the market being in a dormant state throughout the session with price changes prompted by the_variations in the tone of wheal. Recelp.s were 114 cars. There were 1o withdrswals from store. May 0ats closed lsc under vesterday. Estimated recelpts for to- morrow 120 cars. FLAX-Was steady. Lac: May, 8614 T14C; July, 88Lgc: September, 3. Receipis were 14 cars. POVISIONS—Opened at & moderate improve- meniover yesterday. The rise in the live hog market impelled product to advance. Very shortly after the opening prices were back to aboit yesterday’s closing position, the offerinzs proving 100 welghty for the demand. Later the feeling be- came weak and everytning declined. April 2.—The sup- ply of cattle to-day was light. The demand showed no particular improvement, but the mesger supply imparted strength to the mArket. An advance of 10c was noted. The run of hogs was light and buyers were obliged to purchase at 5@luc ad- vance. The demand was good. Offerings of sheep were light and the market, owing to that fact, was 1ue higher.
