CHICAGO, TLL., July 27.—A better feeling pre- vailed in wheat this morning, part of the credit for which was due to Liverpool remaining firm not- withstanding American declines yesterday. Ar- gentine ehipments this week were reported to be but 100,000 bushels. It was a case, therefore, of ig- noring home news for forelgn, The English crop was reportea to be deficient. and, for that reason, it Was blieved that this country woald be obliged Lo make ¢0od the shortege. Prices were not affected by the light sbipments from both coasts for the week as given by Bradstreet’s (1,265,000 bushels) nor by the better winter wheat movement—113 cars arriving at this place. On yesterday’s and Thurs- day's weakness there was 0 materlul increase in the short interest, the covering of which this morn- ing caused prices to rise. Northwestern arrivals were 157 cars. With- drawals from store at Chicago were 19,303 bushels, and 107,313 bushels cleared at the seaboard. Ad- vices from Argentive were to the effect that the crop prospects in that country were poor. Califor- nia had a new estimate for its vield—700,000 tons. Before the close values lost about a cent of their entire appreciation, but ihe net gain for the day was 2@°21gc from yesterday’s final quotations.
