HITCH IN BARKER AFFAIRS Legnl Obstacle in Diviston of Prop- erty Delays Closing of Hotel and Other Plans. There 1s a slight hitch in the proceedings for the division of the Barker estate and the lease of the Barker hotel bullding to the John Deere Plow company may not be- come effective as soon as was hoped by both parties to the proposed arrangement, The trouble comes over the attempt to make an equitable division of the property between Joseph Barker and his uncle, George Barker. Previous to the death of Joseph Barker, sr., the brothers held all of thelr real estate in common, and this bas Leen continued by the administrator of the Joseph Barker estate, W. A. Redick. Last November Judge Vinsonhaler issued orders for the final distribution of the es- tate, the entire property to descend to Jo- seph Barker, jr., with no charges against it except the dower of the widow of the deceased Joseph Barker, ‘When the young man was ready to come into possession of the property he decided that he would want his property to himselt and not In common with his uncle and for this reason the division of the estate has been postponed from time to time, the ad- ministrator hoping that the division could be made without resort to any legal means for a sale of any of the property. The proposition to make this division was re- celved ngreeably by George Barker, but it has peen so far impossible to make the divislon in a manner eatisfactory to both, and Joseph Barker desires to have the dl- vision made before he takes charge of the property. It may be that a number of the pleces of real estate held by the brothers will be placed on the market and the proceeds di- vided, but both parties hope to avold this, and the final distribution 18 delayed to per- mit a mutually satisfactory divisions At the time of the filing of the schedules of the property in the county court the es- tate possessed personal property fo the 1 value. of $39.108, and real estate valued at $103,625, besldes some personal property upon which no valuation was placed. All claims against the estate have been pald except one and that is protected by a bond for $20,000. GOVERNOR AT LONG RANGE McGliton Will Fill 2 from Omaha During the Late ter's Absence.
