Mrs. Carter’'s home is thoroughly adapted for purposes of entortaining and on the days mentioned it was made additionally beauti- ful by palms and ferns placed about the rooms. At T'uesday’s luncheon the decora- tions were in piuk, la France roses being laced about the board, while here and there aster lilies gave a touch of color to the pretty dining room. In the center of the table was a huge fioral piece composed en- | tirely of la France roses and maiden hair fern. But what was most unique about the luncheon were the menu cards. hand painted in water colors, the different courses being artistically deawn, with here and there a bit of landscape deftly interwoven to give effectivencss to the prettily arranged booklet ‘The guests for whom covers were laid were Mrs. Yates, Mrs. Worthington, Mr J Brown, Mrs, Brooke, Mrs. Stern, Mrs. Guy Barton, Mrs, Stewart of Council Bluifs, Mrs R. The menus were art gems done by a local artist on pretty ribbons in water colors, the courses being pictured instead of printed as is usual. Across the face of cach menu was lottered the guest's name and spread out in fan shape in front of each plate the table merited all the lovely things said of its arrangement as well as the hostess’ ability in planning so succes: ful a luncheon. The napery and doilies, the work of Mrs. Carter's mother, were ex- quisite 1n tne needle work and embrowdery, and adaed not a little to the pleasure of the oceasion.
