The coroner and undertaker at once started for the lake, and an hour or 80 later the body was brought to W. C. Estep's undertaking rooms where un 1nquest was held at 8 o'clock in the atternoon. As to tho drowning itself but fow new facts were brought out upon the inquest, al- though consiaerable interesting information was given by the witnesses as to the manner in which the search for the body was carried on during Monday evening, and as to the life-saving appliances, or ratuer the lack of thew, that are afforded by the management. Searching for the Body. Plate Overton, who owns the Rescue vleasure steamer, was one of the leaders in the search. He arrived at the beach about hulf ab hour after the drowning was re- ported, and found that nothg whatever was being done toward recovering the body. Crowds of swimmers were in the watér, and the merry laughter of the women, well us tne men, showed that they cared | tlo for the uncanny object that lay at the bottom of the lake, 5o long as it staid there. He commenced to dive for the body, and keptutit an nour anda half, without suc- cess. At 9 0'clock bie went out again, this time with John Builuy and & man named Snyder, aud drageed the bottom of the luke with grappling hooks. In this way the boly was located, and the hook caagnt on tho body several times, but each time it slipped off before the body was brought to the surface. The Lake Glves Up Its Dead. Amout midnight the three mon rigg d up a line ninety feet long, uud uttachad hooks to 1t about sixteen fnchos apart.
