DUN'S REVIEW OF THE WEEK Decided Tmprovement in All Lines of Trade Tespite the Warm Weather, B ICHTENING PROSPECTS EVERYWHERE Promises of Exceodingly Large Crops Lends a Now Impetus to Trade and Reports from Businoss Centers Are Flattoring —The Clearing House Statements. New York, July #3.—R. G. Dun & Co.’s weekly roview of tiade says: There Is a dis- tinct improvement, not only in transactions in comparison with the same time last year, but also in prospects for the coming season. Prosvects of spring wheat are remarkably Rood, and reports from many of the states surpass all expectations. Wheat has risen 2'4 cents inapite of westorn receipts, amount- ing to 1,136,000 bushels, 1n three days, against exports of 908,000 bushels, Oats also roso 1 cent and pork products are higher, and corn advanced 13 conts. In coffeo thero wasa elight advance, and in oil a fractional de- cline. But 1n the cotton market a decline of o sixteenth ocourred on the sales of 560,000 bales. Roports from Business Conters. Dry goods at Boston is active, with liberal western orders. Cotton mills are actively employea, and orders will keep the woolen mills crowded for some time, while the boot and shoo makers are full; the rubber works are busy, leather firm, and wool freely bought by manufacturers, sales reaching 4,500,000 pounds for the weck. At Philadelphia trads in most iines is fair, but more firmin manufactured iron, while ‘wool sules are lurge and the grocory trade is excellent for the season. Manufactured 1ron {s stiffened at Pitts- burg by the closing of many mills, and the works at Cloveland are pushed beyona their capacity, There 1s some advance in structural iron, Trade is better than last year, ‘The clothing trade at Cincinnati increasos, and tho trade in shoes fmproves, In all leading lines trade exceods last year's at Chicago and prospects for maturing collections are very heaithy. Receints of wheat and corn fall ‘short this weeis, but the usual large increase appears in cured meats, hogzs and cattle, with receipts of flour double, of oats three times and of barley and rye four times last yenr's. At Milwaukeo trade is satisfactory. From Minuesota reports indicate & roproduction of last year's groat crop. At St. Paul trade i3 quiet. At Duluth the tone of Jumber, building matorials and flour was never more satis- fastory At. St. Louis trade is fair. IReocipts of cattle are liboral at Kansas City and trado fairly good. Trade Excellont at Omaha, At Omaha general trado is excellont, At Denyer trade is very good. At Mem- phis trade s fair, but at other southern Eulnls dullnoss appérrs, Rain is reported to ave slightly affected cotton. Cousiderable improvement is seen in New Orioans, thouga sugar is strong and rice firm. Southern sales depress prices of plg iron, but bar, plates and structural iron are very active and higher. Lake copper is weak with large sales at 114 cents. Tin lower, at 20.60 cents and lead at 4 cents. A further advance in an- thracite coal s proposed, but soft coal has sold at $2 at Philadelphia. ‘I'he stock market has beon little affected by the vote of the Burlington & Quincy to withdraw from the Western Traffic associa- tion. Fioe crop prospects and the coming adjournment of congress gives strong opn- rators a basis for o successful campaign against the shorts. Money is unusually plenty. Merchandise exports in three weeks of July areonly halfof 1 per cent larger than Jast year, while in imports a large increase appoars. Iho business failures occurring through- out the couutry during the last seven days number 187, as compared with 190 last weok. For the corresponaing week of last year the figures were 254, CLEARING HOU STATEMENTS, Omaha Agaln Leads in the Percentago of Incrense—Roports from Other Clties.
