A firmer tone was tmparted by some arbitrating purchascs by the exchange, and the murket shows also u firmer tone in the absence of offerinzs of com- merchul bills and the demand for remittances In consequence of the late selling for London account. The deulings were more than on any duy recently of a professional character, and only in Chicago Gus was there any move- ment worthy of note. In that stock realizin i on the rise of yosterday caused a reaction of over L per cent from the best fizure, but the loss was afterward partinlly recovered. The market opened slightly hizner than last evening, and after a swall concession the general list followed the advance 1 Chicago Gns, and while tho im- provement was only for the smallest fractions the subsequent deciino in Chicago Gus falled to neutralize the gains.
