Murray, who keeps a small store at the barracks, was coming into the city she met with a serious accident. She was accompanied by her little girl and had gotten as far along Sixteeuth street as Wm. Gentleman’s store, when one of Jardine’s teamws attached to a heavy wagon, dashed down the street and struck the hind wheels of the wagon in which Mrs. Murray and her child were seated. The wagon was overthrown by the shock and the woman and her child were thrown to the ground. The woman had one of her legs broken and was otherwise injured, The little girl escaped with a few bruises, none of which are serious. Tho lady was carried into a neighbor- ing house and medical assistance sum- moned. It was a serious accident but one of that class 1t seems almost impossible to prevent. 2T Well I_);flfiml l'n'npl;"lon’l. wear dingy or faded things when the 10¢. and guar- anteed Diamond Dye will make taem good as new, They are por ect, at druggicts and be economical. Wells, Richardson & C Burlington, Vt. ——— My I'a Side. To the Editor of 1 Sk Dear ®r:—1 wish to give you my side of the story in regard to an item which appeared in The Dispatch, headed “Mul- hall’s guilt.” For several weeks before this alleged trouble occurred, my chick- ens were killed at the rato of from four to six a day. On Friday, the 18th inst., .| a8 I was preparing to go to my work, my house and told me that Shinrock’s hired girl was killing the chickens with a dog. My wife was sick in bed at the time and she went to get up and I told her to stay where she was, and that T would go over to Mrs, Shinrock’s and ask her if it was with her permission that the girl was killing the chickens, I went to Mrs. Shinrock’s front door and knocked twice, raceiving no answer, although she (Mrs, Shinrock) and her hired girl were in plain sight of me standing in her kitchen, 1 went around to the kitshen door and said good evening to Mra, Shinrock, 1 then inquired of her if it was with her per- mission that the hired girl was killing the chickens with ' the dog, and she told me it was, I then told her in a quiet way that if she was going to make war on the chickens 1 would make war on the dog and that the nexttime I found the dog in my yard that I would shoot him. She told that Shinrock paid taxes for the dog and that I would not dare to shoot him without an order from the city marehal, and then! it would have to be & policeman that ‘would shoot the dog. | turned up fie (il OPENE FOR SECOND, YEAR eptl7,'84 Classioal, Scientific, Commercial and Art Depart mente. Des Jslote, Booretary of the Facuity, Bellev e, Neb, Iy me 3 my coat-collar showing a star to the lady and telling her I was a special policeman and that I could shoot the dog on my premises without an order from the mar Mrs, Shinrock answered me by ing that [ need not try to bulldczs or frighten her by showing & star as | was (ml‘f & watchman in the lumber yards, 1 told the lady I did not wish to either frighten or bulldoze her but that I could shoot the dog on ‘my own premises with out an order from the marshal. 1 then shook my finger at the hired girl telling her that if I could I would have her ar rested for killing the chickens and also used for the benetit of my family, and 1 owe no man a cent. In regard to the statement made that my wife told me to shoot Mrs. Shinrock and the dog, it fs falso. She never said such a thing in my hearing. When I loft the house to go over to Shinrock's when 1 returned she was standing at her own back door. The cause of all this trouble and persecution is because Mrs, Shimrock and her children were ordered by my wifo off from our premises. She was all tho time quarrcling with the children on the sidewalk, and she has followed my children into my yard with a atick in her hand. Now, Mr. Editor, they state that Mras, Shinrock’s testimony is supported by several witnesses, The only witnesses she had tosupporther testi- mony was her hired girl. This girl is a greenhorn only a faw months from Den- mark, Mras, Kate Miesel, the other wit- ness, was in her own yard, with s tight board fence, eight feet high, between her and Mrs. Shimrock, She admitted in her testimony that sho heard mo say something about shooting, and then she went in the house. There were several other witnesses brought to the police court by those parties for the purposo of injuring my character, but they did not, nor could not do that, In conclusion 1 wish to say, Mr. Biitor, that [ was un- tairly dealt with, I was told by respoct- ablo parties that it was a put up job, and that it was all cut and dried beforeit went to the police court.
