The Emmet Monument Association gave a delightful ball at Crounse's hall Wednesday evening which was the most successful events of the kind curred this season, The hall was brilliantly illuminated and decerated with the National colors | of tho Irish people, presenting a| rewarkably handsome appearance. P. depot, the victim being an employe of the Pa cific Express company, who has charge of the express business at night. 1t appears that a truck load of goods for the Denver train was atanding on the platform between the main tracks, just opposite the baggage room doors, and was located too close. The union of Saratogs Sunday schools held asociable Wednesday night at the Saratoga school house, quite a number of young gentlemen from Omaha being in attendance. A floral horse.shoe was voted to the most beautiful young lady, and a floral star tothe most popular young man, Miss Alice Rustin creceived the horse-shoe, and Mr, David Christie the star. Then came amusing exchanges. The star was presonted to the Sunday school by Mr. Ohristio and it was sold at auction for the benefit of the school, bumgl it at Saratoga. Miss Rustin presented the horse<he this v i to o Saratoga paity, and Miss Rustin was then presented with the star by her Omaha friends.
