Thero was a gradual upward movement of prices with- out even any fractional reaction, and although the ¢dvance was not large, and the volume of business comparatively small, there was apparently a more confi- dent feeling. The stock market was strong during the last hour of business, and for that mutter throughout the day, There was scarcely a fiactional roaction through- out the entire day. Ia the last hour prices advanced }@} per cent for some atocks, but for most of them were quiet and firm at the highest prices of the d.y.
