Recent Developments in That Line— Prospects for Future Activity. From present indications there will be an active demand this fall and next spring for building sites in the western part of the city, asfar west as the tract known as West Omaha, and to the northward of that locality, still farther weat, Darlng the past two years par- ties have been quietly buying up property in that direction, some for the purpose ef making homes for them- ‘| selves, satisfied that they will never be able to buy at less figures, and others have invested for a rise. The latter are generally in position to hold until the rise comes, even if it should be de- layed for a year or so. Among those wfio now own real estate in that loc ity are: Dr, 8, D, Mercer, who cwns at a mile and 600 feet in length, on Cuming street; Wm. Butphen, who now oceupies his tract of five acres; August Donnecken, whoexpects to build on his tract of ten acres next spring; E. W, Nash, who has secured five acres; I)uwuy & Stone, who have been fitting up for homes for themselves on one of the foor acre tracts into which the Selden farm has been partially divided, snd John T.
