Mr, Nicholas was on his way down Farnam street when Mr, Ramge stepped out of his place and walking alongside of him inquired when he couls pay that little bill he owed him, Mr. Ramge says Nicholas answered in a rather gruff way that he wuuldme it when he could, and Ramge said ho (Nicholas) might pay it a little sooner, suggesting the propriety of st i point, Upon this he says N grew angry and that he told him not to get ma Nicholas said “I'm not mad, it's you,” Ramge said *‘Now, there's no use being sarcas’— at this juncture the completion of the sentence was stop- ped by a blow from Mr, N,, who is a powerful man avd strikes hard, amge's tilo was knocked into & cock- ed hat and in dodging another blow he fell down.
