The jury brought in a verdict about 10 o'clock at night, finding in favor of the company. ~—Deputy Sheriff Clatterbugk has ar- rested near Dunlap and brought to this poses. Thus the proposed game was virtually a proposition to commit an act which would indirectly place basc ball in this city asa Sunday game, and indirectly place base ball circles on record as disregarding the day. The Council Bluffs nine has time and again received propositions to play Sunday games, but has always declined and very properly so. Inview of this fact, it naturally arosed some indigna- tion that two foreign clubs should be permitted to disregard the public sen- timent against Sunday games, and es- pecially when they would not be al- lowed to play in Omaha, and in other citios, Yesterday morning Mayor Bowman was waited upon by representatives of the Young Men's Christian Associ- ciation, who protested against a Sun- day game being allowed. They were informed that he could do_ mothing about it, unless the players disturbed the peace of the city. If any one filed a complaint charging them with that, of course the officers would see that they were dealt with according to law. Some of the stockholders in the club here took the matter in hand, how- ever, and in sccordance with their ob- jections it was decided that they could not have the grounds for a Sunday game, and that settled it, The Du buques had already wirived and wore at the Pacitic house, ard the Spalding nine who ware in Omaba wers noti fied by telephone, The public will have plenty «f base ball this week, however, Arratge- ity Jomeph Biong, who chargd it | monta Bave bi e for' e | Wht o Lo mie gl o b, OPPOSITE CRYSTAL MILL, Rraalont Nos. 207 & 209 Broadway, Council Bluffs. | grand Iarceny, it being claimed that he|#omes, each «f which will prove i o dSindi sti head. i : : stole the house and furniture of Mr, Big. | troat.
