SOMETHING WONDERFUL. A Trip to the Greatest Gas Woll in the United States---Observations and Notes There and by the Way. Wheeling Inteligencer. A reporter of The Intelligencer yes- terday paid the great flowiog gas well in Washinszton county, Pa,a visit. The distance from Wellsbury is about eighteen miles from West Middleton, From what we heard about it aud the burning gas, we expected o sce a big thing; but when we drew ncar and heard the hissing of the gas and the roaring flame, we were all more than surprised. The sight was more than we had imagined. There was a mod- erate broeze stirring, which, by times, kept the flames at an angle of about forty-five degrees. On drawing nigh our first impres- sions were that the infernal regions had in reality broken loose, and sure- ly the hell where the fire is not quenched was below us for a fact, The well 18 located near the mouth of a small ravine that empties into one of AY.
