TRRPSICHOREAN TRIPPINGS, Resume of Another Week's Doings in Omaha's Society Circles, In Which Music and the Dance Turn up Trumps, The Lininger Silver Wedding Anniversary, Random Notos From Hall and Parlor. THE LININGER SILVER WEDDING The clegant resdence of Hon. G W. Lininger, on Eighteenth and Day- enport streets, was on Thursday, Doc Lst, the scene of one of the most su perb receptions ever given in this city, the occasion being the twenty-fifth wedding annlversary of the host and hostess. The neat ‘inyitations issued several days previous to the affuir, bore on one corner the legend, “No Prosents,” which, of course, pro cluded any manifestations in that direction on the part of their fricnds and the hours within which they were “At Home" were given, 2 to 12 p. . There was no attempt at elaborate decorations, which were, in fact, un-|Ne necessary, as the display of the treas- ures gathered during their recent ex tended tour in Europe made the cious residence one store house of valuable paintings, bric-a brac and ar- ticles of taste and vertu. The signi- ficant dates, 51881, and the word “Welcome,” wrought in silyer, adorned the lumbrequins in the prin- cipal reception room. Every floor was thrown open to the guests, who, to the number of fuily two hundred, thronged the rooms during the aftcrnoon and evening. A magnificent collation was spread on the tirst floor, adjoining the par- lors, while the second floor was set apart for dancing, the music heing the very best that could be fur- nished by that excellent organi- zation, Hoffmann's orchestra, which turned out in full on this occasion. On the third floor the gentlemen who wished to vary the usual social enjoy- ments enjoyed the advantages of a completely ~equipped billisrd and smoking room. The greatest attraction, however, was in the reception rooms prover, where were found Mr, and Mrs, Lin- inger, across whose lives, the years required o bring them to their Silver Wedding day have utsaed so lightly. Mr. Lininger and iss Caroline M. Newman were mar- ried in Illinois and came to Omaha about seven years ago, after a resi- dence of some years in Council Bluffs, Here, as elsewliere, they made a host of friecnds for themselves, and the guests included not only tho first peo- ple of our city, but numerous repre- sentative citizens of some of our I neighboring towns. Mis, Lininger was assisted in her duties as hestess by Mrs. Joe Metcalf, Miss Minnie Hainesworth, Mrs, Bow- man, Mys. Ella Beal, Mi-s May Camp- bell, Mrs. Byron Reed and Miss Jes- sie Roddis, and these ladies enter- tained the visitors right royally, while Mr. Lininger was omnipresent and made the occasion a most delightful one for all. Among the guests present were: FROM ABROAD. Murs. Dr. Osborne, Mr, and Mrs, Miller, Mr. Marshall Key, Mr. E. L Shugart, Mr. John B. Atkins and Mrs. S. Farnsworth, of Council Blnfls; Mrs. Jos.
