NORTH LYME A. W. T. Society Has Sewing Bee— Mrs. Charles Stark Dies at Age of 77 Years. The ladies of the A. W. T. society met at Mrs. E. Webber's last wezk Tuesday afternoon to sew. Mrs. Erwin Rogers is caring for Mrs. Herbert Maynard. Mrs. Charles Stark, 77, died at her home here Monday afternoon after an illness which extanded over a perioi of many months. She had suffered in- tensely for the past seven months, but bors it all with Christian patience and fortitude. She was a woman of very refined tastes and will be grzat'-- miss- ed in the community. She survived her husband only about two months. She has been tenderly cared for by her daughter, Mrs. J. G. Ely, and Mrs. Lucius Stark. The funeral, which was private, was held from her home on ‘Wednesday at 2.30 p. m. Personal ltems. Mrs. Miller, who has been visiting at Mrs. Charles Stark’s, returned to her home in Sterling City the last of Bluff. Mrs. Eliza D. Williamson of Hartford was a visitor at Riverview Friday of last week, having been sent by the Connecticut forestry commission to ex- amine and make a report on the catal- pa grove of Mr. Eldridge. Dr. Chapman of Hartford will oc- cupy the pulpit in the Congregational church Sunday morning. ‘The household goods belonging to Mrs. Elias Holmes were shipped last week to Willimantic, where she will reside with her son, Ralph Williams. FITCHVILLE Day of Pleasure at Gardner Lake— Local Ball Team Defeats Campers, 7 %o 6. Last Sunday a large number of r dents of the village enjoyed an outing to Gardner Lake and attended the bail game between the local Reds and Camp Cadaho, the locals winning, 7 to 6. Jack Kane was on the firing line for the locals and had the campers guess- ing, but gave way to “Everybody's” Dan Marra in the seventh inning, who had things easy. John Fields did the backstop work for the locals and was in old-time shape. For the campers, Christman of Norwich started on the delivery bag, but was bumped hard and oftzn; Fisher relieved him, but he proved easy for the locals. Champlin behind the bat for the camp boys did excellent work. A rank decision by the umpire in the sixth was the cause of much fault finding, which resulted in the closeness of tha score.
