KELLY the Poultryman Minneapolis, 80000 0 0cat M Saq acette Special 28 No. Second St., Minn. “PAGE TWO HEERE, week,” sends the Leader his opinion of how things in-general stand in verse. He has a vision of the old gang very close to the edge of an uninviting cliff, sharp rocks on the way down, and the League goat close behind. Oh, yes, you wise old grafters, We’ve got you on the slide, And by the gods of Israel We’'ll give you one good ride. Of course, you've got our money, It’s bulging from your socks, But you’re apt to spill a lot of it As you slide down the rocks. The_way you got our money— It shows that you were wise: You beat us to it many years In getting organized. Then you started grafting; You grafted night and day. We rubes did the labor And you guys got the pay. But now we’ve got together; We’re coming down the pike, And all you wise old grafters Had better take a hike. Yes, hike out in the country; Heed your Uncle Sammie’s calls. Buy yourselves a new straw hat And a pair of overalls. Then get a bunch of doggies, And get out in the fields. Plant a few measly acres, And see how much it yields. For we know you like your biscuits, And you’ve got to have some meat. So you might as well get busy And raise a bite to eat. For we’re through with feeding graft- ; _ ers; : We'll tell it to you straight. And you’d better get your crop in VBefore it gets too late. SENDS LEADER A SOW’S EAR Everson, Wash. Editor Nonpartisan Leader: I am inclosing a copy of the Farm- ers’ News (a more proper name, I think, would be the Farmers’ Suicide club). This copy gives some more of the typical attacks on the League. I think the future looks bright in this state for the League in 1920. I wish to express my appreciation of the Nonpartisan league and the vast amount of good it is doing. : " OLAF HAGEN. The Farmers’ News to which Mr. Hagen refers is a paper gotten out by a fake league in Washington, organ- ized to fight the farmers’ organization like so many which have sprung up in North Dakota and Minnesota with the same purpose.- Lacking second-class mailing privileges because of the lack of genuine subscribers, its backers put up the extra postage needed to send it out. They are trying to furnish a lit- tle farmer ¢amouflage which is not so easy in the kept press controlled by the same interests. Voicing the discontent of England, a workman on the Clyde said the other day: “We fought for freedom and. Germany for victory; the Ger- man people got the freedom, and we have the ‘bloody’ victory.”—SEATTLE (WASH.) UNION RECORD. y - . P s
