Editor Nonpartisan Leader: Allow me to call your attention to the fact that our Walil street fat boys and their like at this time control the nations of the world, and a league as you - propose WILL PLAY INTO THEIR HANDS. What we are trying to do is to get things so settled at the war center that Germany, Austria and Russia can get on their feet—then we will form a league of our own, but it will be in the hands of the proletariat, and not.the fat boys. A league of nations means policing the world, and that means that Eng- land and the United States will do it. A row breaks out in Peru; we send the troops, shed our blood and dollars for them; a Mexican row; one now on in China, ete, ete. ~Let’s pull to- gether and play always a higher card than Wall street'holds. We should put the pressure on at all possible points with the slogan, “Bring the boys home and keep them here.” C. E. WHARTON. A LITTLE HOUSECLEANING Dykeman, Minn. Editor Nonpartisan Leader: Inclosed find copy of letter I am sending Successful Farming, which I notice has lately been knocking the organized farmers. 1 CLARENCE HALL. Editor Successful Farming: Found a card in the December number of your paper stating my, subscription soon expires. Have taken your p for some time and thought you w on the farmers’ side, but see lately ydu have knocked the farmers’ organiza- tion., Saw an editorial a short time ago in which you advise all farmers to ask any organizer what he was getting out of it. OF course us weak- minded, poorly educated farmers know an organizer can not travel and sperd his time for nothing, but we would like to know how much do you get out of it for telling the farmers what to say. If you are owned and controlled by the big interests and’ old-gang standpat- ters please discontinue my paper-at once. CLARENCE HALL. ol L i CLOSING DATE FOR SEED LOANS The United States department of agriculture has sent out the following notice of interest to Montana farmers and it probably holds for other spring wheat states also: “All apphcatmns for federal seed grain loans on spring wheat for. 1919 must be in the federal seed grain loan office at Great Falls, Mont., not later than February 1, 1919. In order that farmers may know well in advance of the seeding season whether or not they: are to obtain aid from this source, and that the work of handling the appli- cations ‘may not be extended indefi- closing date seems advisable. Farm- ers, bankers and county’ agents are urged to act promptly so that all ap- plications may be completed within the specified time and a rush at the last momeént avoided.” Applications should be made to coun- ty agent or to county auditqr. LABOR PAPER’S OPINION A. C. Townley, who has been the recipient of such unfavorable publicity as the kept press has been able to con- jure up, has been re-elected president of the National Nonpartlsan league by an almost unanimous vote in the con- vention being held in St. Paul. Town- ley has done more for the farmers in the Northwest in the past four or five ;years than all the other forces which | ‘have ever been set in motion, and his re-election to head the Leagne which |- ‘was the child of hls brain is a déServed’ compliment:to his abllnty.—sSEATTLE FEARS LEAGUE OF NATIONS AT ADVERTISEMENTS 1750 WATT ™~ GENERATOR 3% H.
