Mention Leader when wflting advertisers ples in dealing with its farmers In or- der to get mother earth to produce to her highest possible capacity now when- a shortage of food threatens the entire world. “Therefore, for the good of the nation and in justice to ourselves, we approve of the idea of a price-discussing con- ference as proposed by the Farmers Nonpartisan league, and declare our- selves willing to send delegates to‘such conference and pay all of their ex- | penses. We further urge'that the farm- ers tributary to every marketing point in the spring wheat growing territory of the Northwest do as we have done in mass meeting here tonight, and es- pecially assemble in mass meeting for the purpose of electing delegates and providing for their expenses to the proposed conference to act in the mat- ter of getting a reconsideration of the prices fixed for the 1917 crop of spring wheat.” Calif(;r:i—a—\Vantfl League (From the Farmers’ News, San Fran- cisco, Cal.) Two years ago North Dakota showed the other states of the union how to elect a farmer governor, through an organization known as the North Da- kota Farmers’ Nonpartisan league. They swept the state clean of old gang politicians, electing every one of their candidates, except one. The news, whenever and wherever it got out, created a furore, for it proved that farmers can get together if they will. It may be noted as significant that this bit of news, however, received little or no comment in the press except of a derogatory kind, for farmers organized, are not looked upon favorably by poli- ticians and manipulators. It means generally that such fellows must go. The politicians will have to hunt new jobs and the manipulators devise new ways of operating swindling schemes on the public under the name and guise of business. Business means ad- vertising which can not be retained by newspapers if opposition is allowed to develop in either news or editorial col- umns. Thus the greatest educational factor of the age, the press, has become largely influenced by profit and policy instead of public good. Now, in the Hon. J. M. Baer, North Dakota has elected a farmer congress- man. He is the first and only man elected strictly by farmers as repre- senting farmers in congress. Next year, if the blowing straws tell the wind’'s direction truly, there will be a hundred more from the Northwestern, Western and Middle Western states. Organizations to that end are being perfected now. Farmers all over the United States have hailed the election of this first farmer congressman as one of the greatest victories politically for - the common people in the past generation. The big thing about it is that there will follow many more along the same trail to Washington a year hence. In spite of the fact that along its sides in ambush will be waiting all sorts of enemies with all sorts of weapons for their undoing, most of them will pass through in safety. If California farm- ers will fully appreciate their oppor- tunity, which is knocking now, we, too, can have our share of rural members to help agriculture in the great West, and through the strength of numbers and combined achievement, receive also our share of legislative benefits. DEMAND FAIR PLAY The farmers are up in arms over the proposed price for wheat. The thing they object to is not the low price. They would be satisfied with even a lower price than the one that has been proposed were prices at the same time fixed all along the line to the consumer. This plan of fixing the price of the farmers’ product and then trusting to the patriotism of the mid- dlemen to exact only a reasonable profit will never solve the problem. Give the farmer a fair price for his wheat based upon the cost of produc- tion, and in the same way fix the price of the product of wheat. PALERMO (N. D.) INDEPENDENT. THE FARMERS THINK The enemies of the farmers organi- zation in this state have seized upon the recent proclamation by Governor Frazier dealing with the law enforce- ment, in an attempt to make it appear that the Governor and the League are upholding the lawless element in- this state. As a matter of fact, however, the Governor proved that he is deter- mined that the laws shall be enforced in this state—and against all law vio- lators. The attempts will fail, because the farmers have come to judge these matters for themselves. — STARK- WEATHER (N. D.) TIMES. ADVERTISEMENTS Iron Is Greatest of All Strength Builders, Says Doctor A Secret of the Great Endurance and Powers of Athletes Ordinary Nuxated Iron Will Make a Deli- cate, Nervous, Rundown People 100 Per Cent. Stronger in Two Weeks’ Time In Many Cases. NEW YORK, N. Y.—Most people fool- ishly seem to think they are going to get renewed health and strength from Some stimulating medicine, secret mnos- trum or narcotic drug, said Dr. E. Sauer, a Boston Physician who has studied widely both in” this country and in Great European Medical Institutions when, as a matter of fact, real and true strength can only come from the food you eat. But people often fail to get the strength out of their food because they haven't enough iron in their blood to enable it to change food into living matter. From their weakened, nervous condition they know something is wrong but they can’t tell what, so they generally commence doctoring for stomach, liver or kidney trouble or symptoms of some other ail- ment caused by lack of iron in the blood. This thing may go on for years, while the patient suffers untold agony. If you are not strong or well, you owe it to yourself to make the following test: See how long you can work or how far you can walk without becoming tired. Next t@ke two five-grain tablets of ordinary nuxated iron three times per day after meals for two weeks. Then test your strength again and see for yourself how much you have gained. I have seen dozens of nervous, run-down people who were ailing all the while double their strength and endurance and entirely get rid of all symptoms of dys- pepsia, liver and other troubles in from ten to fourteen days’ time simply by taking iron in the proper form. And this after they had in some cases been doctoring for months without obtaining any benefit. But don't take the. old forms of reduced iron, iron acetate or tincture of iron simply to save a few cents., You must take iron in a form that can be easily absorbed and assimie lated like nuxated iron if you want it to do you any good, otherwise it may prove worse than useless. Many an athe lete or prize-fighter has won the day simply because they knew the secret of great strength and endurance and filled his blood with iron before he went into the affray, while many another has gonoe down to inglorious defeat simply for the lack of iron. NOTE — Nuxated Iron recommended above by Dr. E. Sauer, is one of the newer organic iron compounds. Unlike the older inorganic iron products, it is easily as- similated, does not injure the teeth, make them black, nor upset the stomach; on the contrary, it is a most potent remedy in nearly all forms of indigestion, as weli as for nervous, run-down conditions. The Manufacturers have such great confidence in Nuxated Iron that they offer to for- feit $100.00 to any charitable institution if they can not take any man or woman under 60 who lacks iron and increase their strength 100 per cent or over in four weeks' time provided they have no seri- ous organic trouble. They also offer to refund your money if it does not at least double your strength and endurance in ten days’ time. It is dispensed in this city by all good druggists.
