ADVERTISEMENTS the boycott though I often think of it - _ADVERTISEMENTS as a weapon against our enemies. I am quite willing to let all who will be fair and I would not attack any man because he happens to live in town. As I understand the League we are working for an idea and that is some- thing to work for. TOWNLEY A LEADER WHO FILLS THE BILL Our idea is one which we are sure will better the living and working con- ditions of more people than any other idea propounded since our civil war. We want to do something for some- body. The antis want to do something to somebody. The elevators, mills, packing plants, cold storages, open and free markets, direct dealings between primary producer and the consumer with fewest possible ‘“handlers” all backed by the wealth and power of a great state like North Dakota, makes an idea worth fighting for. And just because our Townley has such an idea, lives it, talks it, teaches it, and perhaps dreams it that makes him in my opinion an ideal leader in this enterprise. His idea, the organi- zation of the farmers; his idea, the elimination of unnecessary middle men; his idea, the open and free market. He who condemns Mr. Town- ley because of our League -and his connection with it, condemns us farm- ers who belong to it and pay its way and believe in a square deal. Friends, many of our young men are enlisting for war, but don’t forget that we are enlisted for a war of our own—a war against the prejudice and passions agi unreason of those who would deny our people the right to govern themselves, the right to have the majority will enacted into law; the right to try to better business conditions and with them living conditions for the many. And so I say, stand by the League,-Mr. Farmer, and subscribe for its stock— $16. Help the good cause along. -It's your cause and stick, as we stuck in 19186. H. H. M'NAIR.
