D_}‘ Nonpartisan League Infection Editor Nonpartisan Leader: It seems to me there is one phase or factor in our organization which has been overlooked, or has not received the attentign it should have, and that is the ladies., ‘Whenever we have open meetings such as we have been holding pretty much all over the state, I think the ladies should have a cordial invitation to attend. Also I think they should be urged to attend, for the reason that Nonpartisan League infection is abroad. Some people think this infection is very dangerous, but in North Dakota they are in the minority, and therefore, when attending an open meeting I am in favor of.taking the wife, daughters and boys. And if you live near enough so you can get back home in time to do the chores, bring the hired man and girl along too. You see it is always possible that some of the infection might even stick in the hired man’s hair and bring good results, Now it seems to me this Nonparti- san infection is becoming quite a seri- ous problem. I have been studying it a little off and on between times and find it quite a pleasant diversion. Now thig infection struck me soon after I had signed up, given my theck and be- come a genuine sucker. Now I shall try to explain just how the infection worked on me. Of course having been bit once or twice before and lost a few dellars I was inclined to be suspicious of this business. And had it not been for the neighbor who was with the organizer I think it would have taken that organizer some time to get my money. Well, being pretty busy I forgot about it for a few days but after a week or two passed and I had heard nothing more of my money I began to think I had donated once more. So I began to inquire of some of the neigh- bors to find out if I was the only one who donated but I found some of them had donated, too, so I felt better. Misery likes company, you know. Well, some time a little later I got my mail one day and there was a Leader with it. I examined it carefully but soon found there was something wrong. I could not find the Big Biz ads. Well, thinking they had forgot to put them in that paper I waited for the next. But nothing doing. Could not find those ads. But after studying the paper over I felt pretty good. I already had my money’'s worth with more to come. Right then was when the League in- fection got a start. And it has been busy ever since. I did not read the Leader very long until I became so full of that infection that it became neces- sary to unload a little of it on some one. So, there being no one else handy, I decided in order to save buttons or some- thing from giving away I would try the infection on the wife by reading a few pieces from the Leader and discuss them. I was mighty careful at first because I did not know how it would work on her. However, I kept on reading out little pieces occasionally and it worked all right. She did not threaten to sue for divorce or do any thing serious. About this time I subscribed for the Devils Lake Daily Journal and when I came home with the mail I would look it over. And I soon noticed that while I was busy with the Journal the wife was looking over the Leader. That is the first symptom of infection. ‘Well, after a while, I managed to scrape up courage enough to try it on the schoolma’am. It worked. In a short time the first symptoms appeared and I had to have another paper so I subscribed for the Fargo Daily Cour- ier-News. And now after reading the ' three papers for some time I find that I can not get rid of all the infection spread about by them even on the neighbors. So am trying to unload some of it on the Leader. This is"why I would like very much to see the ladies and young folks turn out to our meetings. In the mnear fu- ture our wives will be voting with us. And the boys and girls of the present will be the voters of the near future. Therefore it Is necessary they sHKould study those problems out for them- selves individually that they may be fitted to cope with the tremendous sit- uation confronting them. Also I would like to have some of the people who are so ‘deathly afraid of League infection get a sample of it and send it down to Professor E. F. Ladd, Fargo, N. D., have him analyze it and find ont just how dangerous it is. JAS. A, M'CULLOCH, Jessie, N. D.
