Is there a demand for a bhig Ind__ependent, Honest, Fearless - daily newspaper in North Dakota, one-which will be fair to the farmers as well as to every other class, one which will represent the interests of the PEOPLE OF THIS STATE and will not truckle to Big Business, to interests outside the state and to political bosses? Many readers of the Nonpartisan Leader have assured us that there is such a demand. Almost from the very day the Leader started letters have been received asking “When will the Leader be made a daily?” “Why can’t we have a daily paper of our own?” and similar questions. We have been repeatedly assured that the farmers of North Dakota are daily newspaper readers and that they long for a daily newspaper which will treat them and their interests fairly and one which will be run IN THE INTERESTS OF THE PEOPLE OF NORTH DAKOTA instead of in the interests of the Minneapolis Chamber of Commerce and a group of outside pluto- crats and political bosses whose aim is to FXPLOIT THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE. You can have it if you want it : President Townley and the editorial and business staff of the Nonpartisan Leader have taken heed of this demand. They have decided to put the people of North Dakota to the test, to find out how sincere are their appeals for an UNBOSSED DAILY PAPER to be published under the same- direction and control as the Non= partisan Leader. They have decided to let THE PEOPLE OF NORTH DAKOTA, especially the members of the Nonpartxsan League, decide this question. Here is the simple proposition whlch the Nonpartlsan Leader now makes to the people of North Dakota: 2 We will establish a daily newspaper to be printed in Fa.rgo for general circulation throughout the state if the people of North Dakota will pledge sufficient support to enable th1s paper to pay expenses. Here’s what you must do The Leader will not require for this new pape1 any stock sub- scriptions nor. any donations to its: operating capital. "All that will be necessary will be ENOUGH PAID-IN-ADVANCE" SUB- SCRIPTIONS to assure a CIRCULATION OF PROFITABLE SIZE. The farmers’ need of a daily paper to represent their cause - fairly WILL BE GREATEST FOR THE LAST THREE MONTHS OF THIS YEAR AND THE FIRST THREE OF NEXT YEAR. These six months_ will be a CRUCIAL PERIOD fof good govern- _ ment in North Dakota.: °* Therefore it has been decided to receive subscnptlons FOR A SIX MONTHS' PERIOD ONLY. If-you want the new daily : newspaper it will be started ON OR ABOUT THE FIRST DAY OF OCTOBER and when started it will'be on a basis that will INSURE ITS LIFE FOR SIX MONTHS. - After that it will again be up to ‘the people of the state to decide whether they want the paper to "continue. The people of the state then will know what sort of a - f paper they can expect and the managers will know whether there’ s a real demand for it. ; : : We offer youa real newspaper We do not believe the people of North Dakota want a half-way excuse for a daily newspaper. = Therefore if the Leader starts a = daily newspaper it will be a REAL NEWSPAPER, supeérior: from a news standpoint to any of the present daily publications in: North © Dakota, It will be a SEVEN-DAY NEWSPAPER, to be read ", every day in the week.
