THE YORKVILLE BANK MUDDLE. About two months ago a man namod N, F, Tilaem opened an account with the Yorkville Savings Bank. He first made deposits in cash and small dratts, follow- ing up these by depositing larger drafts on out of town banks. Several of these drafts wore {rom the Newburg Savings Bank, and they amounted in the aggregate to about $7,000. It has been lately discilvered that these latter drafts bad been raised trom small amounts and that Mr, N. F. Tilden who had drawn against them has suddenly disappeared. The Produce Bank, of No. 5 College place, is the agent of the Yorkville Savings Bank, and Tilden’s arafts were sent to the Produco Bank for collection dnd the Produce Bank forwarded them to the Continental Bank for clearance. The bank agent in this city of the Newbury Savings Bank is the Central National Bank, No. 820 Broadway, and that instiution paid the drafts when presented by the Cor nial, ‘The forgeries were not discovered tll settlement of accounts was made between the Cen- tral National Bank and the Newburg Savings Bank, ‘The Central then applied for the refunding of the money to the Continenta’ The Continental ivoked te the Produce Bank to settle it, and the Produce Bank at ouce applied to the Yorkville Savings Bank.
