Devlin against the eity, the people of the State, Garvey, Keyser, Tweed and others, to compel the return of all moneys taken by the members of the Tweed Ring from the public treasury, an ‘answer was served yesterday on the part | of Andrew J. Garvey. As alrendy published in tho Hxratp, answers were some time since put im on be- half of the city and State by the Corporation Coursel and Attorney General. Gar as appears by his answer now put in, ts willing to restore his share of | the plunder as soon as the amount can bo ascertained. | The document, after setting out the title of the suit, Proceeds as follows:—The defendant, Andrew J. Gar- vey, by James W. Cairns, his attorney, avswering tho complaint of the plaintiff in above entitied action, re- spectiully shows to the Court that defendant admits the allogations contained in the first article of the complaint; that defendant denics that in | the year 1869, or at any ¢ r time, he entered into a | sonspiracy with John H. Keyser, Richard B, Connolly, | James H. Ingersoll and James Watson, or with any or either of them, as alleged in the second article of the | complaint herein, or otherwise or at all, Defendant ad mits and alleges that at said time a conspiracy was en- tered into to oflect the purposes in the said article of the said complaint alleged by the defendant Richard B. Connolly and the said James Watson and two other per- sons not named in said complaint, to wit:—William M. Tweed and Peter B. Sweeny.
