FUNDS UNACCOUNTED FOR. WASHINGTON, Jan, 27, 1875. Richard B, Irwin was again before the Commit- tee of Ways and Means to-day. In accordance with a request made on Monday he read a con- densed account of the subsiuy fund, showing that he first recetvea from Stockwell $90,000. The ’a- cifle Mati Steamstip Company alleged it gave Lim $50,000, but this he denied tm the absence of Vouchers. These two sums, in addition to $750,000, made a total of $890,000, The subsidy fund was included in the account of tle settie- ment with Stockwell. Mr. Burchard closely interrogated the witness regarding certain sums in his bank transactious, And the witness presented a list similar to that heretoiore given to the committee, showing to whom the sums of money were paid, with $85,000 unaccounted for. Q. Where cid you give Schumaker the drait lor $275,000? A. My impression is 1 gave 1t to him at bas oMce in Wilkam street; I cannot do anything elge but prove an alibi; it 1s possible I daced tue drait ahead. Q.
