The. statements in regard to the affray thus far elicited are not very clear. The son of the deceased was lying in bed sick on Sunday night, and hearing @ scuffle in the adjoining room ran out and saw his father and Bridget Waish struggling, apparently for the possossion of an axe, It is said they had some words, and the deceased took the axe to clear Bridget and McCaflery outot the bouse. McCaffery them, took part in the affray, and, as alleged, struck tho deceased several blows on the head, from the effects of which he died. The prisoners were fund secreted In the upper story of the residence of a sister of MeCaffery at the corner of Colum- bia and Summit streets, The officer and Coroner were told that the prisoners had gone to New Jersey. The post§mortem examination revealed the fact that there were several wounds oa the head of tue deceased, and neariy every one was sufficient to bave caused death. The son of the deceased stated to the yosterday that his father fell back upon his bed after the affray and never.spoke afterward. The Coroner made arrangements to Dold an inquest on the body on Monday next. Nothing was chcited from the testimony taken, further than that which nag been already published, to throw light upon the affair. The guilty parties are unknown, and are of course still at large.
