After a long discussion, Major Bramhall moved that eleven delegates be selected on bext Friday evening, whese duty it should be seleet a ticket for ward officers, and report at a future meeting: adopted. Rhinebart, white, was called to the Chair, and stated the object of the meeting to be to elect five delegates to the Convention to meet to-night for the more perfect organiza- tien of the Republican party. Major Merse (white) moved to lay the eub- ject on the table till the next regular meeting, but withdrew at the suggestion that there were few ereene and that the subject might be dis- cussed. Mr. J.H. Crossman (white) wanted to hear the subject discussed. He had been away ana did not know what they were doing. John King (white) described the de- plorable condition of the party in chis city and urged the appointment of an executive com- mitiee. The colored voters want it, and the party wants it, but it is not alittle strange that every effort toward effecttng an organization bas been thwarted. There are disorganizers in our midst effice seeking, and they are they who are doing the mischief. Mr. Needham (white) ceuld not account for the sudden zeal of the gentleman = King who a few nights ago was so violently opposea to the measure of organization. If the spirit of disorganization is not cheeked we shall be ingloriously defeated. Maj. Doughty (white) desired the success of the party and woald doall he couid, but he boped there will be no more personal aliu- sions in our club meeting. The publication of some of them m the papers was a disgrace wo _the party. Mr. George Hatton (colored) favored an im- mediate election of the committee. Dr. Eckert (white) explained the action of the Fifth Ward club, and asserted that all the difficulty had arisen from the fact that it was contemplated giving ail the centro! into the hands of a few. Council resolution in relation to the police station bouse (for adver- tising for proposals for enlarging and im- proving the same) was opposed by Mr, Crop- ley, Who wanted to know what their require- ments were, and said be, for one, woeld vote Against the measure, unless satisfied the im- provement was necessary; and by Mr. Simms, who said there was nothing to show on what the action of the Couneil was based, and thought the Police Board were satisfied with the improvements already made; se far as their power was concerned, he believed they bad more than any other body in the District, notexcluding the Supreme Court.
