MUNICIPAL AFFAIRS, Board of Saperv isors. ‘ho Board of Supervisors met yesterday, the Prost- ~ tdant, Supervisor Little, in the choir, ‘The Mayor sant in a communication vetoing a resolution ‘which appropriated $500 to George H. Purser, for ser ‘vices in Albany during the session of the Legisiature Jast winter. The principal objection which the Mayor Balsed was that be bad been informed by a member of the Board of Supervisors that the price fixed on by both @ontracting parties wes only $250. Supervisor Puroy deprecated the idea of a member of ‘the Hoard m.king a statement to influence bis action, Supervisor Stgwakr sakl the Mayor had acted very un- fairly in this matter by plocing implicit confidence in the integrity of only one member of the oard, thereby Im- plying that he had no faith in the others, whem he did Bot consult. Supervisor Buont defended himself against the attack the previous speaker, and said he saw no reason why ould not cali gn the Mayor and state such facts « ‘were within bis knowledge, particularly when be was fevt for by the Mayor. ‘Tho veto was ordered to be printed officially te any two Papers which the Clerk might wish Lo select. ‘A resolution of Su;ervisor Flont was adopted, appro- puis three thousand five hundred dollars for the cor- tion and completion of the militia rolls and the ex- @mtions under the act creating the National Guard. A communication was read from the Park Com- missioners, stating that they wonld reqnire one hun red and forty-seven thonsand threo hundred and forty- me dojiars and seventy-five cents for the maintenance ‘end government of the Park for the present year. The ove was referred to the Committee on Annual 08, On motion, the messace of the Mayor, vetomg the reso Dation apvropriating $400 83 for payment of the bill of ‘Charles W. Baker for printing and stationery, was referred te the Committeo on Printing and Stationory. An invitation was reecived and accepted from the Tam- many Soviety aaking the Supervisors to unite with them fm the celbration of the Fourth of Juty. ‘The usual monthly bills for work on the Harlem ridge, amounting to $1,000, were presented and objected to by Bepervisor TwrED, who said thero were moro engineers and superintendents in connection with the work than QRere wore workmen. After considerable disenssion pro and con, the matter ‘was laid over, and the Board adjourned till twelve o'clock om Monday next. Board of Commissioners of Health. ‘The Board of Commissioners of Health met yesterday at the Mayor’s office. The health officer, Dr. Gunn, reported ‘the arrivals a3 remarkably healthy; that there is only one tmatance of a ship arriving this year with ship fever on Board that thero have been no cases of yollow fever; @™ fact that yellow fever ia not yet roliably reported as prevailing epidemically anywhere. ‘The resident physician, Dr. corres te reported that as to Syphus and typhoid fever there has been a great improve - ment in the condition of the city. and noticed with com - Mendation the improved condition of the streets, The City Inspector (ex-Alderman Boole) reported that so far ta the condition of the streets was concerned, the city pyre ‘out of danger, and that it was hia determination proceed vigorously with tho work until the streets al be perfectly clean; and thenceforth he means to Keep them s0. He is about to give soecial ai attention to Saving the gutters thoroughly cleansed a nd kept so. Mount Picasant Military Academy. ‘The Mount Pleasant Cadets held their annual parade at Bing Sing on Thursday, the 25th inst. It will be remembered that this fine corps paraded two yeare ago in City Hall Park, when they surprised our citi- gens by their skilful evolutions and were reviewed by the Mayor. This year they passed in review before ex. Governor Dennison, of Ohio; and we also noticed General Anderson and several other distinguished gentiemen on Ube grounds. ‘The parade occupied a couple of hours, nearly every branch of military instruction being exhibited ina beny Batts‘actory manner; and we were specially pleased to Qna the squads of skirmishers and artillorists 80 tho- roughly drilled in those difficalt departments. We visited the encampment, where we found everything as nent and orderly as the most exacting West Pointer coula desire; we next entered the stables, and there found a half dozen sleek horses, kept for the use of the riding class; we after- wards inspected a large and convenient ‘evmnasium, and senciuded our entertainment with a grand bal! in the par- lors of the Academy, The summer examizations of this we!) known institution have juat closed, and their flatter- tug record makes it evident that its present efficient prin- .
