A ehooting affair occurred in California Gulch last week, «resulting in the death of a man named Smith, from Bea ton county, Arkansas, while in pursuit of his wife, who had run away with a man named Curtis. Smith fired at * Curtis, but missed him and wounded his wife. Curtis re- turned the fire, killing Smith instantly.
