From present indications there will be lively times all round. The fow that bad found their way here up to this 4 P. M., have spent thoir time in wrangling, avd should the seven or eight hundred, or perhaps a thousand, delegates that will be in attendance upon the three Conventions, be men of the same pertinacity as those already on hand, the 26th day of July will beaday such as bas never before been seen in Jersey, The gathering clouds and the rumbiing thunder point to a storm of no common magnitude, which will leave the democracy in the State broken and scattered to the four winds, as if4 tornado bad ewept through them. ‘That the readers of the Hxnatp may know the precise position of the democracy and political matters in general in this State, I _w Ul give the origin of the three Conven- tions that are to assemble to morrow. On the second day of July the Democratic State l'xecutive Committee, con- sisting of seven members, receiving their appointment through the regular party Convention that nominated General Wright last year, agsetabled in Jersey City and issued a cal) for a State Convention, tobe held in Trenton on the 26th of July, to nominate an electorial ticket. The call was published on the following day, eigned by every member of the committe. At that Mecting the subject of & Union electorial ticket betweon the Douglas and Breckinridge men was discussed, and the cominittee decided to recommend to the Con- vention the appointment of one electorial ticket, to becomposed of four Douglas and Johnson men, and threo friends of Breckinridge and Lane, or any other combination that may be found the best to eecure union amongst the New Jersey democracy, the ticket to bo headed by the names of the respective candidates, ac- cording to the preferences of the voters, If tho ticket ghould be eucecssful the vote of the State shall be cast for the candidate whoae name should appear on & majority of the tickets throughout the State, provided, however, that if the vote of the State will clect either candidate then it should be thrown to effect this resuit, irrespective of the popular strength of cither wing of the party. Anad- dress, embody ing thoee points, was published on the 16th of July, signed by the Chairman of the committee. Under thoee calis the democracy of the State have been holding their township and ward meetings, and have elect- ed delegates §to attend the Convention; this Convention, which is termed the regular body will therefore be tho main assembly here. It{appears, however, that the Douglas men arc not satisfied with the arrangement, at least a portion of them, and are going to hold a separate Convention of thelr own. At many ofthe primary elections where the delegates were ciectod to the regular, which the Dou- glas men calla Breckinridge Convention, the friends of Dougias, Giuding themselves outvoted, bolted and elected a ceparate set of dclegates to attend a straight out Con- yeution, whilst in other localities they socured « portion of the delegates to the regular Convention, who will take their eeats, and ifoutvoted will then bolt and join the Mtraight ont Dongias body: whilst, on the other hand, it is stated that if the friends of the “Little Giant” have enough in the regular Convention to control its action and run up a ticket of their own, then the Breckiuridge wing will cocede. Wo are thus in for a grand time generally, Jot the result be what it will. ‘The straight out Douglas Convention I¢ ¢aid to have been called in pursuance of a caucas of certain democrats from Newark and Sussex county, held in the “Little Gi- ant’a’”’ room atthe Fifa Avenue Hotel, aud under his suggestions. The original call was only signed by three men from the castern part of tho State. Those advocating this movement state that they are foreed to this course to counteract the Breckinridge move- ment. They also etate that every momber of the com- mittoo isn Breckinridge man. This I eee is also claimed by the advocates of Brockinridge and lane. They aseort that tho State Committee is all right, and that to move- ment for a union ticket is tho thing for them. In this jealousy that bas already commenced showing itself will ‘be found the reck which will upset the Convention. It is also stated by tho Douglasites that the action of the State Contral Committee is the result of a private cancus Fold in Philadelphia, at which were sevoral conft- dental 1 sat Thorman SN, Mickle aud Ac fe Speer, , JN. . ‘ of this State, all ardent: and friends of Mr. Bu- chapan, whe there agi to obtain a recommendation from thio committee in the precise form that it bas beon. ‘This first increased the bickerings between the two wings of the party, all of which will culminate Lore to-morrow. ‘The etre cht out Douglas men have stolen the march on tho other regular 7 and hired the Temperance Hall, the only room in c.ty large cuough to hold » fall con- vention ; the rerulars are therefore in a dilemma, und are likely to ve compelicd to meet in the open air, where a Db be pleuty of room for thelr eomersets aad lofty tumblings. ‘The ixmorratic Committee havo also made pri- and Everett party, vate overtnres to the Bell proposing to place ono man on the ticket for them undor fame arrangements, and they aro to bol! a Convention bere also, Should the tuain Conveution agtce & union electoral ticket the Beliringers will be counted in for a slice, making a very nice conglomeration of materials in bed together. J notice, however, that the Hreckinrldgers declare that the fatter » Lb»! not be counted the ; they will therefore have te be con tent with merely au outside view of the good thing. The Donglarites insist that the Conventions that wil} aasembio shall be called “The Broek uri mmycntion ,"” “The Douglas and Johnson Convoution,” “Tbe Bell aud Pverett.
