Mme. Probably this warmth was-due to the laurels gained dur- ing her absence on the same boards by her young sister dangatrice, Mile. It is mentioned tbat Graziani’s affair with the director of Covent Garden is likely to be amicably arranged by the Feturn of Graziano! to his former position. ‘Among other parting concerts of the season, we must note that of Mme. Owing to injustice and the desire on the pert of this government to plunder foreigners resident here, by re- fosing to redeem their obligations, the foreign Consuls have been obliged to take extraordinary measures, by protesting, and fioally striking their flags and asking for their parsports. The Consul of the United States is the only one who has not struck his flag, for the reason (it is supposed) that be is not sustained in protecting the in- terests of his citizens by his government. Some corres- pondents in thie city give erroneous information in regard to the Danish question, 11 is well known to every pergon resident bere that there never was more piratical and outrsgeous insult to tho Danish flag than the late acts of the Dominican cruisers oa the open sea, breaking open their batches and robbing the veesels, with the Bon. il of War of this republic as Commander-in-Chief of the operation, News has just been received that the Danish government has refused to receive the agent sent from this government, Mr. F. CasrLy OF FReprricksnv ‘RG, March 15, 1859, .The New Jersey. Pc lata Time [From the Newark Mercury, June 13. Yesterday was the utmost limit fixed by the Second Adventists of this city for the continuance of all earthly Waites. At the meeting of these deluded people at Union ‘Halil in the morning, one of the speakers said that it had been announced in the newspapers that if this day did not witness the end of the world, they would e ap thelr belief and ceage to hold their meetings. Tuis was an error, They intended nothing of the kind. If the world did not come to an end now—and be doubted some- what that it would—it would come “some time,”’ and the taeetings would be continued to the end, that they might all be prepared when the long expected event should take ace. He coungelled his hearers to be in no wise cast own, but tohold up their heads and look the world pen in the eyes. He firmly believed that, according to the Scriptures, “time was up.” He had not pro. phetic vision, ecg might be some error in the calculation, but as far as he could eee it was high time for the consummation of all things general and everything in particular. Tne speaker said that probably the next steamer from Europe would bring some Latonid gence favorable to their views, and enlighten them upoa Some points which were heretstore very dubious, Whe- ther or not he meant that the world Caught fro om the other side of the water, and that the flames were — over the face of the earth like the measles ough @ community, this deponent did not learn. The H ker compared the present position of those who were “rooted and ‘prounded” in the peculiar beliet of the Se- cond Adventist's, to the condition of the children of Ierael, on coming, in their journey ings, to the B Red Sea. ‘There ap: peared to be no avenue of escape, but,God opened a way for them; and He would now relieve them from their present condition of doubt and uncertainty, through some such Miracuious agency. Much of this kind of argument was used, but it apparently afforded tne loading disciples pre. sent but little satiefacsion, and they appeared as thoagh they wou!d have much rather experienced the crisis at this-time. ‘Hope deferred maketh the heart sick,” was literally true im their case. The majority, however, seemed to find great satisfaction im the fact that the “end was not yet,” and were perfectly willing to “+ ii longer.” e BuppIse @ New “cypher”? will now be m: in order to ascertain wherein their calculations had been in error, and we would suggest that in figuring the Dens: with seven horns, and the little beast with eleven eyes, into years and days, that they substract from the grand total the result of the present war in Earope. | Eve Tybody wants to know about that.
