Board of Ten Governors. ANOTHER SPICY MEETING AND PEEP BETIND TIT SCRFEN—PROTEST AGAINST THE ACTION OF TUE MAJORITY, ETC. Though the evening was story there was a quorum of the Ten Governors at their meeting yesterday, and qui a congiderable lobby. Doubtiers the outsiders mustered in the expectation that Governor Gunther would do soime- thing towards redeeming the promise he made atthe last mecting of “laying out" Governor Stnith ‘‘as the meanest while man that ever stood in the Board.” When the fortnightly requisitions for the varioxs insti, tutions were read, Governor Townsend said he had a pro- test to enter against the proceedings of the majority at the last meeting, end he hoped the Board would extend to him and Governor Smith, by whom it was signed, the courtesy of having it placed on the minutes. The follow. ing is the protest :— The undersigned, members of the Board of Ten Goyer- nors of the Almsbouge, respectfully protest ugainst the action of the majority of said Board on the 3d day of May, | 1858, and beg leave to have the same entered on the mint 1. ‘That the law passed in 1849, committing the charities of the city to. a Board of Ten Governors, coatemplated an equal division of the two great parties in the Board, aud an equal division Of any patronage the Board might pos- sees.
