He was drafted in the war of 1812, at Brooklyn Heights, under Colonel Minuse. He served faithfully during the war, and at the close was complimented by his commanding officer fur various cts of daring and bravery. He was for mauy years known among the mercantile community as a cartman, and was familiarly called ‘Uncle Davy.” Of late years he has been prevented from following his occupatioa in Consequence of his failing sight, which resulted in total blindness for abou ar previous t bis death.
