Railroad Catastrophes. @ATAL ACCIDENT ON THE HUDSON KIV ER RALLBOAD— A MAN AND HIS WIFE KILLED. A melancholy accident occurred on the Hudson River failroad, uear Tarrytown, on Thursday night, by whicha ! man aod his wife named Black wero instantly killed. Abeut three o'clock on Wednesday afternoon last, Mr, Miller, a mail agent on the Ohio Central Railroad, was musted from the car, Supposing that he had fallen from the car, the train was instantly stopped, It was thea backed slowly, when the body of the unfortu- nate man was found near a wood pile about six miles from Columbus, torn and mangled in a horrible manner, #6 much 60, that it was almost impossible to lift him up and place him in the car without pces falling from the body. Singular to relate he was alive when found, but wmsensibic. He lived about three minutes after he was placed in the car. George Bouton, assistant physician to Coroner Merry, was called, and made an affidavit setting forth the facts re- specting his conzection im the case, in which he stated that he made @ post mortem examination on the body 0 the deceased, and that he dicd from congestion of the lungs; that after the inquest bad been concluded, he re. juested the landlord of the house to try and see if au, of he deceased's relatives could be found, and left with the certificate of burial; that if they Could not be found, the certificate has to bo left at the Coroner's office, and the body sent for by the dead cart. The fire spread to the stable of widow Laughlin. The gable ead of a frame Louse rear of Forty fourth street, owned by EK. W. Townsend, was Slightly damaged. Mr. McCabe has an insurance of $75 on his horse, and $625 on his stock of Liquors, household effects, &c., in the Hamilton Insurance Company. The latter iecenp was not damaged. Between ten and eleven o'clock on Thursday night a fire was discovered by officer Bigiey, of the Fifth precinct, in the frame building on the corner of Vestry and Washing- ton streets, occupied by Jobn A. Smith as a mahogany de- pot, aud attached to his lumber yard. The fro was extinguished by the officer, assisted by some fire men, Upon an examination of the premises a bottle and some broken glass and some matches were found upon tho floor where the fire started. The incendiary no doubt threw the bottie, tilled with turpentice, through a broken light of glass over the street door, and then ignited the matches and communicated the fire tothe combustible material. This if the second time this place has been set on fire. A stable and lumber yard on the corner of Dee bresses and Washington streets, owned by the same party, has also been set on fire three times during tho past two years. There are several parties suspected, and the Firs Marehal will probably have some of thom ubder arrest ia a day or two.
