Affairs In New Granada. OUR BOGOTA CORRESPONDENCE. Bogora, New GRravapa, August 15, 1858. Surveys of the Bueno Ventura Rail and Plank Road— Probate Kifects of the Opening of the Route—Generat Prache, of the American Engineers—Increase of Native Products—New Modes of Transit for Exports Wanted— Confidence in American Energy. Since my last quite an oxcitomont has existed hore, by the public exhibition, by order of General Mosquera, of the surveys and roport made by Captain J. D. Williamson, ‘&8 ongineer in-chief, and a corps from New York, of the Cali aud Buono Ventura Rail and Plank Road, from tho port of Bueno Ventura to the city of Cali, in the Canca Valley, over the Cordilloras of the Andes, in the great Gold district of Choca The opening of this road will be of vast importance to New Granada in developing some of her vast resources in that section of country, and no doubt will be of some con- siderable benett to tho mechanical interest of the United States from the orders they will receive for mining machinery to bring into renowed existence the hitherto neglected gold mines in that section that Were formerly worked by tho Spaniards with great success and profit. Gen. dosquora deserves groat praise for the honorable mauner when referring w the surveys for the correct- ness and beauty of the works, and great labor bestowed © them at such a smal) cosi—not over, Lthink, $10 000— in giving Captain Williamson groat crédit for his porse- Verance and energy in discovering and running the line over the Andes at such a low grade, some four thousand feet less than the present road. Col. Moreno, Vasques, Isaacs, and other prominent men of the re. Poblic, and the Europeans who are established here, speak well of the Captain, and as an officer and gentle: man they rank bim as ono of the best of his countrymen who bas ever been in the coantry. In Captain William Son's report be speaks well of his corps individually, and porticulurly of bis first assistant engineer, Charles Heyne, for his promptness and energy in carrying out Lis orders It is ng to see men holding the position of the Captain giving his men honorable mention for the Services that each rendered him ty running the line, in stead of claiming all the credit for themselves, as is gon eraliy the case with engineers. In this report the reverse is the case, as every man who performed his duty is named t@Aividually, and those who were turned off the work for negiect of duty are named, so they will not be em.
