DEATHS IN THE MINISTRY. Rey. Foster Lilly, late of Andovor, Alleghany county, N. Y., died on the 23d ult. Rey. Elon Galusha, a well known minister of the Baptist dencminetion, ‘‘1ests from his labors,” hav- ing died in Lockport on the Gth inst., where hus Leen some time settled. He was for many ecnnected with the Second Baptist church, in in Hoch. eter, as pastor, and removed to Lockport. but a few ears since. He was formerly settled in Westmore- nd, Oneida county, where he was much respected, not only by hie ch ch, but by the, public at large. Rey. Mr. Baker, formerly of Winchester, Va., and bat lately removed to Caroline, where he had just established a female seminary, died a few days ago. He was much respected, and his death will be deep- Jy lamented by many friends. The Rev. and venerabie Joshua Bradley died at St. Paul, Minnesota, on November 22, 1855, in the eighty- fourth year of his age. Mr. Bradley has been xiensively kuown throughout more than halt of the Gnited States, not only as an eloquent and faithful minister 0! the G cspel i in the Baptist church, but as a 7ealous, self-saciiicing pioneer in the establish- ment of academues and seminaries, and laying the foundation for two or three colle; in as pd States. He was at the head of Rock Spring Sei nary, the first boarding school, other than those under Catholic di:ection, opened iu Minois in 1827 and 1828; and many who will read this brief notice will call to semembrance their highly esteemed instructor. His last labors in the cause of education were in the office of Seley ot Public Instruction,’ in the new Territory of Minnesota. ew men have been more faithful and successful in the Christian ministry than this venerable pio- neer for sixty years. His last illness was of several weeks’ continuance, during which patience and re- sieuetyn had their perfect work. His end was jumphant aud glorious. NEW CHURCHES. J., was, on Thursday, Dec. 20th ult., dedicated to the worship of Almighty God.
